Binance is one of the most popular exchanges in the world, yet little is known about its creator, which has made many wonder who is CZ, the founder of Binance. It says a lot that people refer to him by his CZ acronym, and not by his real name.

Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, is the creator of Binance and one of the most well-known figures in the world of cryptocurrencies. He not only bet on the future of the digital economy very early, he has also encouraged its adoption since he founded the cryptocurrency exchange in question.

The best-known story of his rise is touched on in his biography, where he says that at the age of 36 he discovered cryptocurrencies for the first time. From that moment, he decided to sell his apartment and invest in Bitcoins, leaving all his savings and his property in the hands of this investment. What Did The Creator Of Binance Do Before Investing In Bitcoin?

Born in Jiangsu province, China, in 1977, Changpeng lived for most of his childhood in this semi-rural province of China. His parents were university professors, however, his father was exiled from the university for his ideology, forced to educate in rural areas shortly after Changpeng's birth. This eventually led to their having to go to Canada when he was 12 years old.

In his adolescence and due to the situation his family had to go through, Changpeng worked from a very young age in all kinds of jobs, including McDonald's. Eventually the situation for them would improve, making it possible for him to go to McGill University in Montreal, in Quebec (Canada), where he studied computer sciences.

After finishing his studies he was selected for a scholarship in Tokyo, related to exchanges, causing him to soak up knowledge regarding blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

How Did Changpeng Zhao Create His exchange, Binance?

During his fellowship and the following years, Changpeng worked developing software dedicated to the trading system. On the other hand, in 2013 he became a member of the team that developed Blockchain.info. After several ventures between 2005 and 2015, and when he was arrested for a severe policy on changes of the Chinese government, in 2017 he began to create in his head the idea of what Binance is today.

The project went ahead, even after the Chinese government, in September 2017, declared that exchanges could not operate in China. Consequently, this led him to leave China behind once more, causing him to settle in Singapore. Since then, he has worked hard on his platform and on the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the world.
