Gov. DeSantis: Big Tech Oligarchy Is More Powerful Than The Government

Governor Ron DeSantis and Republican leaders in the Legislature declared war Tuesday on Facebook, Twitter and other social media companies that took down former President Trump and other conservatives accused of inciting violence.
Condemning the “oligarchs in Silicon Valley,” DeSantis said these privately owned online giants are using their size, advertising power, and global reach to sway thinking and essentially play favorites, being much tougher on outsiders the political right than with those on the left.
DeSantis Accuses Tech Companies Of Influencing Thinking
DeSantis cited Trump's banishment and Google's removal of the social media app Parler, a favorite of conservatives and right-wing extremists.
“Big tech is starting to look like ‘big brother’ with each passing day,” DeSantis said.
The governor, whose 2018 election campaign was fueled by Trump's early endorsements on Twitter, reflected on his mentor's presidency as he defended his call for tighter regulation of Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, Google and others.
