Huobi doesn't want to get in trouble with the law. Cryptocurrency exchange has announced that will remove from its platform up to 7 cryptocurrencies related to those known as privacy cryptos or privacy tokens, a class of cryptocurrencies that allow information to be hidden when making transactions on the blockchain.
In this way, starting next September 19 at 08:00 (UTC) it will no longer be possible to buy/sell cryptocurrencies like Dash (DSH) or Decred (DCR) in Huobi, two of the tokens affected by this measure that seeks to allow the exchange to comply with the latest regulations regarding cryptos.
The List Of Cryptos That Huobi Has Removed From Their Exchange
As Huobi has announced, the list of cryptos that will no longer be available on this exchange from next September 19 includes the following 7 tokens:
- Dash (DSH).
- Decred (DCR).
- Firo (FIRO).
- Monero (XMR).
- Verge (XVG).
- Zcash (ZEC).
- Horizen (ZEN).
Since yesterday, September 12, it is no longer possible to add new funds to any of these cryptocurrencies in Huobi, although withdrawals of money from these tokens are still available. As of 19 this month, the 7 tokens will be eliminated from circulation forever and it will no longer be possible to carry out any type of operation with them.
Privacy Tokens Are Not Welcomed By Regulators
After the storm experienced with Tornado Cash, privacy cryptos are experiencing their worst moment in the eyes of regulators. Countries do not want anonymous cryptocurrencies that facilitate unidentified transactions, and for this reason they are pressuring exchanges like Huobi to eliminate any trace of this type of project.
Huobi is probably only the first in the list of exchanges that will gradually remove any anonymous cryptocurrencies from their platforms, if they ever host them on them.
